first of all, lets get you started off with a Linux or Ubuntu Distro of your own. here are links to a couple of my favorites:-)
1. my favorite Ubuntu based Distro is Zorin os. it is organised like windows. based from Ubuntu and behaves like Mac. heres a safe link to the official website. http://zorin-os.com/free8.htmlhttp://zorin-os.com/free8.html
2. Ubuntu 14.4 LTS is a classic, it is easy to learn and well organised. though it can be a little glitchy sometimes this is still one of my favorite operating systems. http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
3. Debian is one of the operating systems that i have not spent a lot of time with, it has different command lines than Linux or Ubuntu but looks simply beautiful. i highly suggest giving this one a try. https://www.debian.org/distrib/

if you can't decide which of the operating systems to use then so some research. there are a hole tone of Ubuntu and Linux based OS's to choose from.
in order to install any of these you are required to extract the .ISO file that they and most other operating systems come formatted in. to do so you must have a program called Universal USB installer. this program will allow you to choose your operating system and then it will search for the ISO file on Your computer. if it finds it then you can click on the flash drive or other media devices that you have plugged in to your computer. and then hit extract and it will extract all the files from the ISO to the USB and then you can boot from it in your bios by fallowing the steps below.
1. after making the bootable flash drive as shown above plug it in to your computer.
2. turn off your computer
3. after your computer has shut down with the flash drive plugged in turn it back on
4. immediately after turning on start tapping F12 and a boot screen will come up
5. select the name of your media device and hit enter
6. now the OS will be running off your flash drive
7. choose to either install the operating system directly or to boot the system live
the difference between booting the system live and installing it is that when you have a system booted you are not making any changes to your hard drive and when you shut your computer down and turn it back on it will boot back the the default operating system and any games saves or documents ext that you have made on the Disk OS will not be saved. when you install the system you are going to either wipe the hard drive and install which will get rid of the default operating system and all of it's content or if you are familiar with installing operating systems you can install it along side your default OS. this mean that when your computer will be able to save files and pictures ext to both operating systems with out wiping the other one. and when your computer turns on there will be a screen that comes up that gives you an option to boot to the Linux distro or the default operating system... say swindows, and you will be able to save stuff on both operating systems without resetting the other one.
i hope this info was of help. if there are any questions please check out the forum section of this website and post your problems or your questions there, while of course fallowing the rules:-)
thanks and have a nice day
